XI. Past Tense

             The simple past tense is sometimes called the ptererite tense. We can use several tenses to talk about the past, but the simple past tenses is the  one we use most often.

=) Teman-teman, kita dapat menggunakan formula untuk simple past tense yaitu :

 

Subject + verb2 + object + modifier

                          

 

·          Example :

1.         Some students conducted research on vegetative plant propagations last year.

2.       Transpiration started to incease 3 hours ago.

     Guys, kalo subject diikuti adjective or noun, kita bisa gunain be was kalo subjectnya I, he, she, it. Tapi kalo menggunakan were, digunain buat you, they, we.

Subject + (was/were) + adjective/noun

·            

      Example :

1.)      He was poor

2.)     She was a good singer

3.)    They were friends

 =) Penggunaan Simple Past Tense :

 a.  Simple past tense yang digunakan untuk menyatakan kejadian-kejadian yang telah berakhir

    (completed action), terjadi pada waktu yang spesifik di masa lampau.

·                          Example :

          1.)         I went to Kuta beach yesterday 
         2.)       He was my boyfriend.

 b.  Membuat sub-clause dari unceal conditional tipe kedua, jika faktanya dalam simple past tense.

·                           Example :

          1.)        If I had a pair of wings, I would fly as high as.

c.  Untuk kalimat tidak langsung (indirect speech), jika kalimat langsungnya (direct speech)

   menggunakan simple past tense.

·                         Example:

        1.)        He said that he was tired.

=) Simple Past Tense digunakan untuk fakta-fakta atau peristiwa-peristiwa yang terjadi di masa lampau.

·                       Example :

       a. I played tennis with some guys from work yesterday.

       b. We stayed in Shanghai for five days.

 Kalimat Negatif Past Tense

S + did + not + V1

    

·              Example :

          1.         I arrived in London on Monday (positive), ; I didn’t arrive one Sunday (negative). 
         2.       They stayed at the Amaris Hotel (positive) , ; They didn’t stay at the Aquarius Hotel (negative)

Kalimat Tanya Past Tense

Did + S + V1

  =) Example :

         - Why did they go to Bali?
         -When did she buy this house?
